Road Legal Motorbike Plates, Made Properly
Motorbikes use a different plate from cars. The registration sits on two lines, the characters are smaller (64mm tall and 44mm wide on bikes registered from 1 September 2001), and the plate goes on the back only. Bikes registered from that date must not have a front plate.
We make every motorbike plate to those rules at our Hounslow workshop: the correct DVLA font, character size and spacing, the BS AU 145e mark and our supplier details. For a standard 7-character registration that gives a plate of about 9 x 7 inches (229mm x 178mm), the smallest size that stays road legal.

Are Small Motorbike Number Plates Legal?
Only down to a point. UK law fixes the size of the characters, not the plate. On bikes registered from 1 September 2001 the characters must be 64mm tall and 44mm wide, on two lines, with set gaps and an 11mm margin. For most registrations that means the plate cannot be much smaller than about 9 x 7 inches.
The very small plates sold online (often 7 x 5 inches or less) only fit by shrinking the characters, so they are not road legal. They can lead to a fine of up to £1,000 and an MOT fail. We only make road-legal plates.

Do Motorbikes Need a Front Number Plate?
No. Motorbikes and motor tricycles first registered on or after 1 September 2001 must display a plate at the rear only, and must not have one at the front.
Older bikes may display a front plate if the owner wants to, but it is optional. That is why our motorbike plate is sold as a single rear plate.

Every plate is printed on a reflective yellow rear plate with the correct DVLA characters, the BS AU 145e mark and our supplier details. When you order you can add:

- a fixing kit: adhesive pads, thick 5mm pads, or plastic motorbike plate screws.
Motorbike Plates vs Car Plates
A car plate has 79mm characters on one or two lines and goes on the front and back. A motorbike plate has smaller 64mm characters, always on two lines, and goes on the back only. The font, the reflective material and the BS AU 145e rules are the same.
