How to order
What documents do you need to order number plates?
As a DVLA registered number plate suppler, it is our responsibility to check your legal entitlement to the registration you are asking us to manufacture. You will need to provide 2 document reference numbers that prove your name & address, and entitlement to the registration. We are required by law to collect this information from you.
You can use the following to confirm your name and address:
- driving licence, with or without a photo (doesn’t have to be issued in the UK)
- utility bill, Council Tax or rates bill in Northern Ireland (from the last 6 months)
- bank or building society statement (from the last 6 months)
- national identity card (issued by the government of a state or territory other than the United Kingdom)
You can use the following to confirm your entitlement to the registration:
- vehicle registration certificate (V5C)
- new keeper slip (green slip)
- a certificate of entitlement (V750) to the number
- a retention document (V778)
- a renewal reminder for vehicle tax or SORN (V11)
- a temporary registration certificate (V379)
- a number plate authorisation certificate (V948) with an official stamp from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA)
- an electronic number plate authorisation certificate (eV948) or an electronic trailer number plate authorisation certificate (eV948/2)
- UK trailer registration certificate (VTRC)
How do I submit my documents?
Email: You can email info@plateboss.co.uk with clear images of your documents attached. These images must clearly the pages of your documents that contain the document reference number.

Please quote your Surname, Order Number and Registration with all submissions.
If you are ordering your plates for collection, you can bring your documents with you when you come to collect your number plates.
If you are ordering for delivery, you must send us your documents before we dispatch your new number plates. You can do this via email, whatsapp or post.
Yes. We are registered with the DVLA and are authorised to produce road legal number plates.
All registered DVLA number suppliers are required by law to obtain proof of entitlement and ID before handing over number plates. If you use a supplier who doesn’t need to see your documents, you are helping crime. But the real question is, how safe are you registration detail with them if they are already breaking the law?
By law we require two documents before we can craft your personalised number plates.
Docs required:
- ID

- Bank or building society statement from the last 6 months
- National Identity Card
The following will confirm your name only:
- Passport (doesn’t have to be issued in the UK)
- Bank or building society debit or credit card
- Police warrant card
- Armed forces identity card
2. Proof of entitlement to the registration number
- vehicle registration certificate (V5C or V5CNI)
- new keeper supplement (V5C/2 or V5C/2NI)
- certificate of entitlement (V750 or V750NI) to the number
- retention document (V778)
- a renewal reminder for vehicle tax or SORN (V11 or V11NI)
- temporary registration certificate (V379 or V379NI)
- a number plate authorisation certificate (V948) with an official stamp from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) or Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)
- an electronic number plate authorisation certificate (eV948)
- a letter of authorisation from a fleet operator (including lease or hire company) quoting the document reference number from the registration certificate
- if your fleet is in the new V5C on demand scheme (also called ‘V5C suppression’), a PDF of the vehicle’s details from the view vehicle record service
