Liverpool has no charging Clean Air Zone. In July 2022 the city council chose faster fixes, like changes to traffic signals and bus stops, over a zone that charges drivers. So in the city itself, no camera is waiting to bill you for driving in.
Head across the river at Runcorn, though, and it’s a different story. The two bridges there have no barriers and no booths. Cameras read your plate, and that plate is how you get the bill. Does Liverpool have a Clean Air Zone?
Not a charging one. In July 2022 Liverpool City Council decided against a charging zone and went for other measures to cut pollution instead.
Do I need to register my plate to cross the Mersey Gateway?
No. You can pay each crossing before you go or by 11.59pm the day after. Registering with merseyflow gets you a discount on each trip.
Do you post to the Wirral and Southport?
