Number plates for Glasgow drivers
Number plates Glasgow drivers can rely on: road legal, made by a DVLA-registered supplier to the standard the city’s Low Emission Zone cameras read every day, and posted free.
5.0 on Google · hundreds of reviewsGlasgow was the first Scottish city to switch on a Low Emission Zone for every vehicle, and its cameras have been reading number plates in the city centre since June 2023. Whatever you drive, the plate on the front of it is what the system sees first.
We make the number plates Glasgow customers order in our own workshop near Heathrow and post them to the city with free Royal Mail Tracked 48, usually in 2–3 working days from when your documents reach us. Every set carries the BS AU 145e mark and the legal font and spacing, so it reads the way a camera expects.

Will your car pass?
The cameras check your registration against the vehicle’s emissions record. These are the minimum standards, so it’s worth checking before you drive in:
You can check a registration on the Low Emission Zones Scotland vehicle checker. If a penalty turns up for a car that isn’t yours, our cloned plates guide covers what to do.

Glasgow questions
Is the M8 part of Glasgow’s Low Emission Zone?
No. The motorway marks the north and west edge of the zone but isn’t inside it, so you can drive through on the M8 without entering the LEZ.
How long do number plates Glasgow-bound take to arrive?
Free Tracked 48 usually takes 2–3 working days and Tracked 24 (£6.99) usually 1–2, both counted from the day your documents reach us.
Do you deliver to Paisley, East Kilbride and the rest of Greater Glasgow?
Yes. We post number plates Glasgow-wide, to every address in the area, at the same price as anywhere else in the UK.
Is there a daily charge to drive into the zone?
No. Unlike some English schemes, there’s no fee to pay to enter. Vehicles that don’t meet the standard simply aren’t allowed in, and the penalty is what enforces that.
I live inside the zone. Does that change anything for my plates?
No. The plate rules are the same everywhere. Residents’ vehicles have had to meet the LEZ standards since 1 June 2024.
