Nobody drives from Scotland to west London for a set of number plates, and you shouldn’t have to. All the number plates Scotland customers order go out by Royal Mail from our workshop near Heathrow, tracked from the moment it leaves us.
The rules for plates are the same in Scotland as everywhere else in the UK, so what you get is exactly what a customer collecting from our door gets: the legal font and spacing, the BS AU 145e mark, our name and postcode on the bottom edge, and a 3-year warranty. We check your ID and entitlement first, as every registered supplier must.
Number plates Scotland customers have ordered
Every order for number plates Scotland-wide in the past year, from Ayrshire to Aberdeenshire. Three of them arrived in a single week in October 2026, and most were for something more than a basic printed pair.

Find your city
Each main city has its own page, with the local details behind the number plates Scotland drivers there order.
How it works when you’re 400 miles away
A clear photo of your photo ID and your V5C (or another document on our valid documents list) by WhatsApp or email is all we need. No need to put your logbook in the post.
Documents in before 2pm on a weekday and your plates are made and handed to Royal Mail that afternoon, packed in a padded envelope or box marked fragile.
For number plates Scotland-bound, free Tracked 48 usually takes 2–3 working days. Tracked 24 is £6.99 and usually takes 1–2. If anything arrives damaged, we’ll make and send a free replacement.
See your plates in 3D before they head north
Build your set with your own registration, spin it round, and order without having to explain anything over the phone.

Four Scottish cities now check your plate at the boundary
Scotland’s four biggest cities all run Low Emission Zones, and every one of them is enforced by number plate recognition cameras that check each vehicle against the licensing records. The number plates Scotland drivers use need to read cleanly when a camera is deciding whether to send a penalty.
For a car that doesn’t meet the emissions standard, the penalty starts at £60 (halved if you pay within 14 days) and doubles with each repeat in the same zone:
If a Low Emission Zone penalty arrives for a car you weren’t driving, your registration may have been copied onto another vehicle. Our stolen and cloned plates guide explains what to do.
What an S at the start of your reg means
On a current-style registration, the first two letters show the DVLA area where the car was first registered. Scotland’s all begin with S, and the second letter narrows it down to one of five areas.
The rules are the same wherever the car was registered, so we make the number plates Scotland drivers order exactly the same way as a London car’s.

Can I have the Saltire on my plates?
The law allows it. You can show the Cross of St Andrew with SCOTLAND or SCO underneath, on the left of the plate. If you drive abroad with it, though, you’ll need a separate UK sticker on the car. A plate with the Union flag and UK doesn’t need one, apart from in Spain, Cyprus and Malta, where everyone needs a sticker.
We don’t offer Saltire badges yet. Our 3D builder has the UK flag options.

Number plates Scotland: your questions
Do you deliver to the Highlands and islands?
Yes. We post to every UK address, including the Highlands, Orkney, Shetland and the Western Isles, on the same free Tracked 48 or £6.99 Tracked 24 services. Some remote and island addresses can take a little longer.
Are number plate rules different in Scotland?
No. The same law covers the whole UK, so every plate needs the BS AU 145e mark, the standard font and spacing, and the supplier’s name and postcode.
Can you make a plate for my trailer or caravan?
Yes. Most trailers carry the towing car’s registration, so a non-commercial trailer plate is £19.99. If your trailer has its own DVLA trailer registration number, choose the commercial trailer plate instead.
Why will my plates say TW4 6BX?
Every road-legal plate has to show the supplier’s name and postcode, so the number plates Scotland customers get from us carry PlateBoss.co.uk and our workshop postcode. That’s normal and legal wherever in the UK your car is registered.
What if my plates arrive damaged?
Send us a photo and we’ll make and post a replacement set free of charge.
